Meet the Maker was born after a coffee & chat with a passionate and inspirational lady, someone who I had never met before, but had only communicated with online. Our first meeting was kind of like a blind date really! Lucky for me she was a great first coffee date and left my mind racing with thoughts and ideas. Later that day I got to thinking about how much we rely purely on Social Media and forget to engage offline! Daily I find inspiring Makers whose products I have never seen in shops and where the only avenue to purchase them is online. So whilst sitting in the car that afternoon waiting to pick up my sister from work, Meet the Maker Perth was created! I created an instagram page and from there it became apparent to me that people liked the idea & were supportive of the concept.
Having run & owned my own small business and continually stocking our shelves with items we have viewed online, only to then receive them and think “Oh thats different to what I thought it was going to be” I could see the real need for people to Meet the Makers behind their favourite online brands- to physically touch the products before buying them. And too more importantly chat with the Maker; hear what inspires them, let them tell their story & to hear the process they go through to make their products and just see the real passion in what they create!
We hope Meet the Maker Perth will be your Go-To event to discover WA talent & to engage with your favourite Makers offline. We will be hosting four events per year with our second event scheduled in for the first week of December. Stay tuned for more details on this event.
